    The Couture Process

We'll work closely with you through a series of appointments, starting with a consultation and a sketch.

We'll work closely with you through a series of appointments, starting with a consultation and a sketch. Throughout your fittings, one of our expert designers will turn your hazy dreams into solid, steel-boned reality. The process will end with a truly collaborative piece of wearable art.

A typical Couture ensemble requires five appointments.

    1. Consultation & Design

Meet with one of our designers and tell us of what you dream. We’ll come up with a look that emphasizes the details that make you feel the best. Each piece will be completely tailored to your design and body. In some cases, you might come in for a follow-up consultation to finalize your design direction.

You will be provided with a quote from our Couture Coordinator at or shortly after this appointment. A $500-$1000 deposit is required to start work after this point.

    2. First Mockup Fitting

We'll fit a prototype of your garment(s) to see how to refine the fit and silhouette. Fabric will be pinned, snipped, even drawn on. Your idea may evolve at this stage. We encourage you to be communicative with your designer during the mockup fitting about both aesthetics and comfort!

The corresponding recommended deposit is about 1/3 of the quote.

    3. Second Mockup Fitting

Depending on the pieces, a second mockup fitting may (or may not!) be required. Corsets in particular typically call for two fittings. In fact, we repeat this step as often as is necessary to ensure satisfaction on all parts! Your design may continue to evolve. A final fabric decision is made so we can order your materials.

The corresponding recommended deposit is about 1/2 of the quote.

    4. Final Fabric Fitting

At this fitting, we try on the nearly-finished pieces and confirm the fit in the "real" fabric. Alterations and hems are marked and any drape-work or embellishment decisions are finalized.

The corresponding recommended deposit is about 3/4 of the quote.

    5. Final Try On & Pickup

You'll see the full effect of your unique ensemble when trying on the completed look. You may wish to bring a close companion for a step-by-step tutorial in getting you dressed.

Ensembles must be paid in full for pickup.
